California and World War II: Camp San Luis Obispo
Join the History Center of SLO County for our next Carnegie Lecture! We’ll hear from Sergeant Major Dan Sebby, Chief Curator in the Museum Support Unit with the California Military Department – the National Guard. Dan is a 4th generation native of San Luis Obispo County and also serves as Vice President of the Sacramento Historical Society. He’ll highlight the role of Camp San Luis Obispo, the original home of the California National Guard in the Chorro Valley. During World War II, Camp San Luis served as the training site for seven infantry divisions of GIs called to the front in both Europe as well as the Pacific Theater.
