History may not repeat itself, but it certainly does rhyme sometimes. The History Center is a treasure trove of our community's past, and we are actively participating in building our future. We learn from the experiences of those who came before us, fostering a sense of identity and pride in our local history. We also play a crucial role in education, inspiring future generations and promoting cultural understanding.
Echoes of the past are everywhere, if you just know how to look. And nothing makes us happier at the History Center than to help bring those connections to light – connections like High Tea in the Dallidet Gardens. When we opened that space for the first time in 1959, we held a tea party for families to celebrate the preservation of a vital community resource. 65 years later, our Mother’s Day Tea is one of our most popular programs.

The future keeps on coming, and wouldn’t you know it but it looks an awful lot like the past. Our kids and grandkids can marvel over the largest jumbo jet ever to land in our county, and we can feel confident that our grandparents felt the same about the first biplanes. Cultural celebrations might involve drone light shows these days, but the parades and banners were just as bright. Through lectures, parties, exhibits, and tours, the History Center is bringing the making sure we never forget the dreams of the past while we make new ones for the future.
